Daniel Rainer obtained his BSc degree from VUT (Vienna University of Technology) and his MSc from DTU (Technical University of Denmark), where he worked in the group of Søren Kegnæs. During his PhD at the University of St Andrews (UK) in the research group of Russell Morris, he explored mechanochemistry for sustainable synthesis of framework materials, namely zeolites and coordination polymers.
His current research targets structural analysis of novel materials by advanced electron microscopy and electron diffraction techniques, in particular the recently established continuous rotation electron diffraction method (cRED) and related techniques for structure solution and refinement.
