Heterogeneous Catalysis and Advanced Materials
Dr. Michal Mazur received his Master’s degree in Chemistry in 2012 from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. He subsequently joined the Department of Synthesis and Catalysis at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague, Czech Republic, where he earned his Ph.D. in 2016 at Charles University under the supervision of Prof. Jiří Čejka.
After completing his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Russell Morris at the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom, finishing in 2018. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Charles University in Prague and serves as the Head of the Transmission Electron Microscopy Laboratory. He is also a member of the Charles University Centre of Advanced Materials (CUCAM).
Dr. Mazur's research focuses on the synthesis, post-synthetic modification, and applications of advanced materials—particularly two-dimensional zeolites and ultrasmall metal nanoparticles supported on zeolites. He has a strong interest in advanced characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), and electron diffraction methods such as continuous rotation electron diffraction (cRED).
He is the co-author of more than 76 scientific publications, holds an h-index of 21, and has contributed to two book chapters.
