Research Group: Heterogeneous Catalysis and Advanced Materials
Dr. Parthiban Velayudham is an electrochemist specializing in fuel cell and energy conversion technologies. He earned his M.Sc., in Chemistry from the University of Madras in 2012 and completed his Ph.D., in Chemical Sciences at CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), India, in 2020. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded the prestigious CSIR Senior Research Fellowship in 2017. He has gained extensive international postdoctoral experience, serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Ariel University, Israel (March 2021 – November 2023), IIT Madras, India (December 2023 – September 2024), and the New Technologies Research Center, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic (December 2024 – December 2025).
His research interests encompass the design and development of advanced electrocatalysts and polymer electrolytes for fuel cells, heterogeneous catalysis such as electrochemical ammonia synthesis, and water electrolysis. His current research work focuses on MXene synthesis and the development of high-performance photo- and photoelectrocatalysts for water splitting and sustainable hydrogen production.
